A Comparative Study of the Accessibility to Social Welfare Facilities for Use in Gyeongbuk Province Utilizing GIS

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to compare the accessibility of social welfare facilities in 23 counties, Gyeongbuk province utilizing Geographic Information System(GIS). To do so, we used 610,701 address data from social welfare Integrated management network stored information about social welfare recipient(basic livelihood security recipients, the disabled, the old-age pension recipients) and 247 facility address data by a certain criteria of facility. Specific analytical method using the ArcGIS program was carried out in a manner that aggregate the number of subjects in the area by network service area analysis considering the roads network in individual counties. According to analysis results, Si county area is 1.5 to 2 times higher accessible than Gun county area, so it need to expand facility for Gun county area. While past studies were mainly to analyze aggregate data, our study have significance by use directly social welfare recipients to the measures and more precise method considering the roads network analysis than the radial distance method.
